Adapt Chiropractic

CHIROPRACTOR Elmhurst IL

At Adapt Chiropractic, we are committed to your health. When patients come to our Elmhurst chiropractor with pain, additional symptoms or other health conditions, we are determined to get to the cause of that issue. By looking at the very foundation of the body, we are able to bring the body back to a healthy state, thereby relieving secondary conditions, commonly referred to as symptoms, and resolving deeper health issues. With this structural approach, you can expect overall improved health, not just temporary relief.

Adapt Chiropractic

Dr. DeClark is the only chiropractor in the Elmhurst area who focuses on structural chiropractic. We want you to care about your nervous system health the same way you care about other aspects of your health. Your nervous system health determines your quality of life, which is why we go to the underlying cause of secondary conditions and address what is actually happening with your spine and nervous system.

Traditional vs. Structural Chiropractic

Structural chiropractic goes deeper than the traditional chiropractic approach. Structural chiropractic does not see pain, or any other secondary condition, as the isolated problem. In addition to addressing that pain or secondary condition, it seeks to find the cause. Structural chiropractic looks at the body from an engineering perspective, and examines the structure of the body to find any structural irregularities that might contribute to secondary conditions.

Structural chiropractic doesn’t expect a “perfect” structure. Structural chiropractic allows patients to understand the underlying structure of their own body, and aids in secondary condition relief and healing by uncovering significant structural deviations from a norm, that may be causing pain and other secondary conditions.

Structural chiropractic is a great fit for anyone who’s tired of patching their problem. If you’ve cycled through temporary relief and recurring pain, a structural chiropractic approach might be what you need. During your consultation, you and Dr. DeClark will confirm whether structural chiropractic can provide the help you’re looking for.

What is a Structural Shift?

A structural shift occurs when a single spinal segment shifts from its normal position. If this occurs, it can cause the entire spine to deviate from a normal range, interfere with nervous system function, and likely cause secondary conditions, otherwise known as symptoms.

At Adapt Chiropractic we look at your spinal structure and nervous system for significant deviations from normal function. If these structural shifts are not corrected, the spinal segments can continue to deviate from normal and can cause nervous system interference.

About The Exam

The next step after your consultation is an examination, which will include a review of your medical history, chiropractic examination, a neurological and orthopedic assessment, a neuro- structural analysis, and structural X-rays. When you come in for this exam, we recommend wearing loose fitting athletic/gym attire. Please refrain from wearing any tight-fitting jeans, dresses, skirts, or other restrictive clothing.

After the exam, we will schedule a second appointment to discuss the results. There, you will discuss the nature of your specific structural shift, and Dr. DeClark will present care plan recommendations. If you choose to begin care, we can get started during the second appointment.

SECONDARY CONDITIONS

In structural chiropractic, a structural shift is known as a “primary condition”, or a condition that lies at the root of other conditions. When other conditions manifest as a result of a primary condition, they are called “secondary conditions”. The term secondary conditions can also be interchanged with the word “symptoms”. Our goal at Adapt Chiropractic is to determine whether your secondary condition or symptoms are the result of a primary condition, and if structural chiropractic can address that primary condition.
